23 июля этого года на выступлении в рамках фестиваля BBC Proms дуэт Pet Shop Boys представит свою новую работу, пьесу "A Man from the Future", посвящённую учёному Алану Тьюрингу. Выступление будет состоять из трёх частей: первая - "Overture to Perfomance", во второй приглашённый вокалист и оркестр исполнят избранные песни Pet Shop Boys в новых аранжировках, созданных композитором Анджело Бадаламенти, а в третьей наконец-то объявятся Теннант/Лоу и покажут публике своего "человека из будущего".
Говорят, что концерты с BBC Proms, как правило, транслируются по телевидению, так что есть вероятность увидеть видеозапись выступления; в крайнем случае, радио уж точно никто не отменял.

Вроде новый сингл вышел. Что слышно?

Пластинка с двумя новыми миксами на "Fluorescent" вышла ограниченным тиражом специально ко Дню Музыкального Магазина (Record Store Day), который в этом году пришёлся на 19 апреля. Ремиксы получились так себе, мягко говоря, и больше напоминают демки, но зато включают слова, которые не вошли в альбомную версию.

Занятно иногда вспоминать, как тебе слышались тексты знакомых песен несколько лет назад. А особенно, если взять ещё более далёкие времена, когда учился в школе, и английский только начинал осваивать как следует. Например, я несколько лет был убеждён, что в часто повторяющейся строчке песни "Discoteca" с альбома Bilingual (1996) поётся:
I'm in a discoteca boring (типа, я на дискотеке, и мне скучно), а на самом деле там фраза на испанском "Hay una discoteca por acqui?", спрашивают "Где клуб?", про это я был не в курсе, да и вообще не сразу узнал, что у альбома Bilingual предусматривалась такая концепция, латинские ритмы, английская лирика, проникнутая фразами на испанском.

Хочется сказать спасибо за указанную песню и альбом в целом, так как они помогли мне убедиться в том, что у иностранцев всё-таки есть такое понятие, как "дискотека". Я думал, что это чисто русское слово, греческого происхождения (по аналогии с "библиотека"). Что у иностранцев, англичане, американцы, это называется просто "club" или "event". Несмотря на то, что стиль диско, пусть даже и в варианте 70-х, был какое-то время популярен и в США, возникли свои известные группы (вроде Village People). А оказалось, что такое слово есть в испанском языке, да и англичанам оно вполне известно, как видим.

Вообще, хочу заметить, какие же всё-таки непростые у Pet Shop Boys тексты, не дают расслабиться уму. Со своими заковыками, отсылки к каким-то известным в прошлом личностям (Карл Маркс, Tony Benn в Love Is A Bourgeois Construct), определённым временным периодам (как twenties, seventies, ninetees в Being Boring). Но это сказано вовсе не в минус группе, а даже скорее в плюс. Это не то что современная попса, например эти зарубежные Джастины Биберы со своими "Baby, baby" и не отечественные эти Жанны Фриске со своими хитами "Ла-ла-ла", вызывающими и у слушателя, и даже самих у себя (как выясняется) воспаление мозга. Даже то же самое банальное "I love you" можно облечь в довольно мудрые изречения, чтобы получилась запоминающаяся песня со своим смыслом и очень жизнелюбивая, что мы видим на примере другой песни с этого же альбома:

Про сложность текстов - эту тему я поднял, так как в августе на развлекательном сайте встретилась одна обсуждаемая шутка про наше караоке и песню Daft Punk - Around The World.

Там суть обсуждения была в том, что в наших караоке-барах (Москва, я так понимаю) публика очень любит исполнять эту песню, в ней всего одна повторяющаяся строчка, но люди никак не могут запомнить, где там и что петь, удивительно, и им дают такую распечатку:

Вот к чему приводит отупение текстов! К аналогичному положению дел у слушателя. Нет, у этой конкретной песни вполне неплохая аранжировка, дискохаусная, группа, как и PSB, имеет в наше время статус культовой электронной, но иногда задашься вопросом, а что же имел в виду автор этой песни, этого текста? Любители дадут какой-нибудь размытый ответ, что вот, путешествие по миру. Но как по-разному об этом можно рассказать! Возьмём ещё одну песню с упоминавшегося альбома, заглавную Single - Bilingual. Там человек рассказывает, как он приезжает в другое место, другую страну, на работу, я так понимаю, но ему трудно сойтись там с людьми, никто не спешит встречать его радушно, он ищет понимания, но пока он одинок.

Наверное это из-за замкнутого поведения членов современного общества, не иначе. Сегодня, кстати, буду пересматривать один известный фильм тоже об одиночестве. Потому что во многом знакомая тема. Её и в попсе пытались затронуть: "Это ветерок твои губы колышет ("фу!" - прим. авт.), я тебе пою, но ты меня не слышишь". Вот о такой же примерно ситуации ("Вы понимаете меня?") и поют Pet Shop Boys во многих песнях со своего этого "Двуязычного" альбома, как мне показалось.

А вот вопрос в тему. Его обсасывали на петхедз. ру, но вот перемкнуло нас с подругой. Други, помогите!
Суть: Очень хочется сделать субтитры к Куднту. При том, ну, хоть английские, а лучше того русские. По откровению, расслышиваем очень плохо, но вдруг кто-то сможет и захочет помочь?! Мы практически все уже сделали, но...

Time, funny thing time. There are two ingredients to time. One is the notion of time as a logical space. The other is the notion of it being a logical space used by us to represent relations between events, and conceptional connections between concepts. But this just does not reflect the content of our concept of time. Arguably, an object is a teacup only if has been produced by a conscience agent with some general intention about its use, or possible use, and, consequently in a world devoid of conscience intending agents, where there might be things like teacups, there would be no teacups. However, this just does not seem to apply the case of time. Our conception of time is not such that we would say of a possible world devoid of conscience agents, that while there is something like time, there is literally no time, on the grounds that no-one was doing any representing in that world. One might wish to hold that a full grasp of our concept of time involves grasping the possibility of using certain mathematical structures in representing the temporal aspect of things. Someone who fails to see this has failed to grasp something about the full concept of time.

Я подозреваю,что two-это они двое,Крис и Нил.А на ноль можно делить бесконечно,всё равно будет ноль.Под этим two divided by zero возможно кроется действие,которое делать нельзя.Ну,так сказать-секс между двумя мужчинами.

Бредовая, конечно, идея, но.. Меня как-то спросила жена (которая в английском не очень), что это значит "two devided by zero" - не SOS ли, часом?

Дело в том,что написать эту песню вдохновил "говорящий" калькулятор, что Нил купил для своего отца на Рождество.В песне как раз используется "голос" калькулятора.Так что ломать голову над смыслом не стоит.

Pet Shop Boys - It's A Sin (Disco Mix)

Я вполне готов согласиться, что хит группы очень даже похож на сингл этого американского певца (с таким довольно нестандартным именем, cat - кот), из начала 70-х годов. Куплеты очень схожи. PSB вполне могли заслушиваться этой вещью, когда сочиняли свои песни, с которыми они прогремят в 80-е.
Мне эта Wild World стала часто попадаться в эфире одной довольно неплохой радиостанции, и мало того, что сама приятна, так слышу что-то неуловимо знакомое.
Ну а у PSB решил выложить микс, который мне довольно редко почему-то попадался в интернете. Жаль, но у них почему-то особо не издавались сборники, где были бы макси-версии, всякие миксы, издававшиеся только на синглах. Би-сайды они вместе собрали, за это спасибо, но вот их Extended Versions, Remixes, мне такие подборки с ними что-то не встречались. А было бы любопытно послушать.

Про заимствования, забавно, что из песни, в которой слышится заимствование, тоже в свою очередь другие заимствовали для расширенной версии своего хита - Bad Boys Blue со своим Come Back And Stay.
А второй наиболее крупный хит Pet Shop Boys, как мы знаем, является вполне официальным кавером на диско-хит 70-х, Village People - Go West. И их его аранжировка, выбранная для песни, прославляющей Запад - это переработка советского гимна (прославлявшего в их понимании, как нетрудно догадаться, Восток, такая вот загогулина).

Если имеются в виду песни It's A Sin и Come Back And Stay - они обе 1987 года. Неизвестно, кто у кого заимствовал.
